Education
Laura has been teaching singing professionally since leaving University of Huddersfield with a masters degree in Music (performance) in 2004. From 2004-2006, Laura worked as a peripatetic singing teacher and a solo recitalist in Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire forming her own performance groups and running workshops for young singers with the arts education service and with privately owned performance arts studios.
Having completed the Postgraduate Diploma and Master of Music in concert singing at RSAMD with Helen Lawson in 2008, Laura now lives in East Anglia with her husband and son. She taught for 6 years for the Suffolk County Music Service as vocal tutor and choral leader for various groups and ensembles.
Never one to shirk a challenge, in addition to her performing work, teaching and choral commitments, compositional projects and raising her young son, Laura continues to build on her own skill set concerning keyboard skills, language and movement. She firmly believes in an holistic approach to music making and learning and that understanding the student is the key to getting the best from them. She also believes that life should always be about learning and self-improvement and heaven forbid there should ever be a dull moment.
She holds a full clean DBS enhanced disclosure, child protection certificates and recent training and is a registered certified singing teacher and a full member of the Independent Society of Musicians (ISM) and a registered teacher with AOTOS (Association of teachers of singing).

Private Tuition
Laura is a registered certified singing teacher for the ISM and AOTOS.
Laura routinely enters students for ABRSM and Trinity singing examinations, with most students achieving distinctions and merits.
This, of course, is not the 'be all and end all' as learning is about so much more than that! Whilst exams can provide extra structure and impetus for some students they are not the right fit for everyone.
She is keen to stress the importance of building good technique from day one and believes that singing should first and foremost be a pleasure.
Lessons are tailored specifically to the needs and development areas for the singer along with a broad range of repertoire choices in different styles and genres. Every lesson is different as every student is different.
Laura has also branched out into the world of online tuition and has produced a series of online video tutorials for her current pupils.
